Friday Review:

This weekend was fun!

My Dad is a photographer, and had a picture in an art show down in the Paseo District, so Richard and I went on a little mini date. It was a lot of fun! I busted out my camera and actually took some decent pictures.

P.S. Please don’t judge my photos too harshly, I am also still learning about my camera and working on my photography skills.

Please Forgive Me in Advance:

If things look a little strange around here, for a bit. It’s because I learning new techniques for blogging. I am reading up on my HTML and CSS skills and may or may not get it right. I am trying to re-design my page and hope to have it looking great in no time.

Agian, if you see something funky or out place please forgive! I am learning! Hope you will like the changes you will see in the next coming weeks….

Where I Spend 8 Hours a Day, 5 Days a Week…

I work at an office, and I spend a lot of my time there. Like most people who have office jobs, I get my own little spot called a cubicle. When I started this job, we used to work in another older building and I had a desk literally in the middle of the room, it was open and just there, then we moved to a brand new building and we all got new spaces in cubicles. At first I thought it would wonderful! I get to have my place, my own little 1/2 room in the office… turns out cubicles can actually be quite claustrophobic like and these were very bland little places… then I decided to brighten things up and make it a little more homey and little more me!

So, I went to the stores and I bought a few things, on a budget at that, I used some things I already had at home and brought some life to my little space. Now it’s not so bad to be there all day!

At least a couple of times a day, I have people come to my desk so it’s fun for me and it’s fun for them. I get a lot of compliments how about how colorful and cheerful it is!

Let me just show you real quick:

Uploaded from the Photobucket Android App

I added this little bird, and I picked up a cheap picture frame added some fabric I had lying around from the Home Ec days behind the glass and I have an instant marker board. I usually write cute little sayings on this… and when I get a little bored with things or a little antsy for a change… it’s quick and easy!

Same with this picture, a cheap picture frame that I took the glass out and covered it with chalkboard paint and voila! Another thing, I can quickly and easily change for an update. I usually draw something on here, but I thought a nice little “Welcome to my Cubicle” note would work for now.

I got a cool vintage vase from my Grandma added some bright cheerful faux flowers, painted this picture above just something bright and colorful to add. I had the little signs at home that say “hope”, “laugh”, “imagine”, “faith”, and then pinned a little note I wrote to remind me that things aren’t that bad, “Dear God, Thanks for this beautiful life, and forgive me if I do not love it enough.”

Here it is all together:

I keep a lot of bright-colored folders in that little self thing to keep organized.

That’s really about it. I keep thinking I want to add more. What I really want to do, but just haven’t yet is take some of my favorite instagram pictures and string them across one side walls kind of like a banner. One day, I am sure I will get to it.

Do you work in a cubicle? If so, how to you show off your personality and make it more homey? I would love for you to share!

I am an ENFJ

So, I took this test, and turns out I am an ENFJ. Which means Extraverted iNtuitive Feeling Judging.

ENFJs are the benevolent ‘pedagogues’ of humanity

-Joe Butt

Turns out the test described me pretty well… organized, deep thinker, extrovert, etc.

Want to see what you are. Take the test here!

Let me know what you get and if you think it describes you or not.

2013 Reading Challenge

I really like to read but sometimes I have trouble trying to find books to read. It’s kind of a weird problem because before I got my Kindle I used to go to the library a lot and now I have my Kindle but I still get stuck in ruts.

That was until I discovered Goodreads.com. I made a profile. Picked the genres I like, (which is really almost all genes) then it gave me a list of books in each genre. I would rate it if I had read it and if not and it looked interesting then I can add to my reading list, to read later. As I rate and add books to read it starts to get an idea of what I like and gets a little more personable on my list. I used to make handwritten “to read” lists and then I would lose them and forget what I wanted to read. This way they are always there.

Then I saw this:

Amanda has
read 0 books toward her goal of 50 books.

I am pretty sure I will  no problem reading 50 books in a year.  I can read 2-3 every two weeks. Sometimes, if it’s really good, I can read them in a day or two. One summer when I was in grade school,  I read 325 books in summer. I won the reading plague that year for the reading program. (Nerd Alert!!)- granted they were children’s books, but still that’s a lot of books!

So I am going to post my progress on the side bar over there ->

Also, I will post my list of what I have read and my ratings… check it out and so far I don’t have any friends on this thing because I just joined. So, if you have a goodreads account I would love to be your friend and see what you are reading!! If you want to do the challenge with me, let me know!

Brand New Shoes

Here is good Zooey song to help you finish out the week and get to Friday!

Don’t be too jealous but I don’t have to work tomorrow. That’s right I took the day off! Richard and I are going to Paris. No… not Paris France (wish!) but Paris TX to see my friend Cristi.

Well… have a great day!!

P.S. Obviously, this post isn’t about a brand new pair of shoes I bought, nope. It’s the name of the song. 🙂

Guest Blogger: My Life as Mrs. Squish

Today you are in for a treat. I am going to introduce you to a lady friend of mine that I used to work with. Technically, we still work at the same place but she was a trader and left my department. (kidding, kidding.” About the being a trader part.”) Kari taught me my job, and always had the funniest stories to tell. Anyways, she has a husband, a cute pug and one of the world’s cutest little girls.  So, without further ado here is Kari:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well hello there kittens.  I’m Kari and I blog over at My Life as Mrs. Squish.  I started writing when I got knocked up because I thought it was the thing to do.  But I decided that I actually like it…although I don’t post every day.  Why should you stop by?  To see the World’s Cutest Toddler, of course.  I write about my life and what it’s like living with my little She Hulk and husband and The World’s Worst Pug.
I like to pretend I’m a fancy photographer when really I’m a secretary at a university medical center.  I become obsessed with random things easily.  Last year I became fixated on Harry Potter, Big Love and different religions.  I’m watching Dr. Who on Netflix right now.  So far, and I know this is blasphemy to some, but I’m not digging it.  I like to ask my facebook friends for movie and book suggestions then delete those who recommend Twilight.  I’m a movie snob.  I also like to talk like a 16 year old girl sometimes.
I use my blog to hold me responsible.  I like to say I’m going to do things then not do them.  I noticed if I wrote them on the old bloggity blog I’d have to do it.  That’s where I famously hashtagged dreamboard.  Yeah, that was me.  You’re welcome.
So that’s me and my blog.  Thanks for having me Amanda!
Weekend Rewind
Today feels like Monday. Even though, it’s really Tuesday. I am so glad we had a three day weekend, so even though it’s Tuesday – It’s Monday for me, so here is my weekend rewind.
Friday, at work was kind of  a short day because we got to have a party, one of the Doctor’s I work with became an US citizen! (yah!)
 I got to spend some quality time with my family and it was fun, we played board games and hung out, then on Saturday Richard took me to the last George Strait/Martina McBride concert. It is SO sad that this is supposed to be George Strait’s last concert in OKC ever. It was still a lot of fun though and I am SO happy I got to go.
Sorry for the bad pictures. (taken from my phone.)
I will spare you the videos I took, they are worse than the pictures and instead I will play you my favorite videos of these two. (With George Strait it is SO hard to narrow it down to one.)
Martina McBride – Whatever You Say
George Strait – Baby’s Gotten Good at Goodbye
I could write a whole blog about my love for George…
Saturday, Sunday and Monday, were very good productive days – a bit more of hanging out with family and hanging with Richard and since Monday was a holiday, I made the most of it and ran errands most of the day. Hope you all had a great weekend!
Trying Something New in the Kitchen:
Things have been a little boring over here lately… hence the lack of posts!
I will tell you one thing that is kind of exciting over here though… (to me anyway.)
I found an app the other day that gives me a whole years worth of  balanced healthy recipes, and a weekly grocery list. So far I am two days in and I really like it! It’s fun trying to cook new things and I really think it will help with the saving money thing! I also like that  it keeps things fresh and interesting and I really don’t have to put too much thought into getting the recipes and putting things together, and when I got to the store it keeps my budget in check, because I really only buy what’s on my list! I might try to document my new cooking journey…. if you want to know more about the app let me know!
